Meghalaya to Operate 700 Health Sub-Centres by March 2027

Meghalaya's health department has set a target to establish 700 sub-centres by March 2027. The sub-centres, which serve as the first point of contact for primary health care in villages, are expected to expand the reach of basic medical services in remote parts of the state. Officials said the rollout will be phased, with new centres commissioned as infrastructure and staffing become available. The initiative aligns with the state's broader effort to strengthen rural health infrastructure and reduce travel distances for patients. Completion of the 700-centre network is slated for the end of the fiscal year 2026-27.
