A delegation from Meghalaya travelled to Japan to observe the ongoing preparations for the Asian Games, aiming to gather insights for the state’s hosting of the 2027 National Games.
Meghalaya officials arrived in Japan this week to tour the sites being readied for the upcoming Asian Games. The delegation, which includes senior members of the state’s sports council and government representatives, spent several days meeting Japanese organizers and inspecting venues that are slated for the 2026 Asian Games.
The purpose of the visit was to understand best practices in infrastructure development, event management and athlete services. Delegates examined stadium construction progress, transport logistics and technology deployments that support large‑scale multi‑sport events.
Insights gathered are expected to inform the planning of the 2027 National Games, which Meghalaya will host. State authorities said the trip will help refine timelines, budgeting and operational strategies to ensure a successful national event.
