The Meghalaya government has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Airtel Foundation aimed at enhancing teacher training programmes and expanding digital learning resources across the state.

The memorandum of understanding was signed in Meghalaya between the state education department and the Airtel Foundation. The agreement focuses on strengthening the capacity of teachers through structured training modules and providing schools with digital learning tools.

Under the MoU, the Airtel Foundation will assist in designing curriculum‑aligned digital content, setting up e‑learning platforms, and conducting workshops for educators. The partnership also envisages the creation of a monitoring framework to assess the impact of these interventions on classroom outcomes.

State officials said the collaboration aligns with Meghalaya's broader goal of improving educational quality and bridging the digital divide in remote areas. Implementation is expected to begin in the upcoming academic session, with pilot projects slated for selected districts.

The initiative reflects a growing trend of private‑public partnerships in India's education sector, leveraging corporate expertise to address systemic challenges in teacher development and technology integration.
