Meghalaya police seek additional forces to ensure security for Durga Puja

Meghalaya police announced that they are seeking additional forces to provide security for the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. The request comes as the festival, which draws large crowds, is set to be observed across multiple districts in the state. A police spokesperson said that the deployment of extra personnel will help ensure safety at temples, public venues and processions. Authorities are coordinating with central paramilitary units and neighboring state police to supplement the existing manpower. The move reflects the department’s proactive approach to prevent any untoward incidents during the religious observance.
