The Meghalaya government has released a draft of its State Agriculture Policy and is inviting suggestions from the public to shape the final document.
The Meghalaya state administration has published a draft of its new State Agriculture Policy and announced a public consultation period. Officials said the draft outlines the government's vision for modernising farming, improving market access and promoting sustainable practices across the state.
Stakeholders including farmers, agribusinesses, NGOs and academic institutions are encouraged to submit their comments through the online portal set up by the Department of Agriculture. The consultation window will remain open for a specified period, after which the feedback will be reviewed by a committee of experts.
The government aims to incorporate ground‑level insights to ensure the final policy addresses the unique challenges faced by Meghalaya's hilly terrain and diverse crop patterns. A revised policy, reflecting public input, is expected to be presented to the state cabinet later this year.
