The Meghalaya government has formally requested a Rs 10,000 crore allocation from the central government under the Economic Advisory Panel (EAP) to support the 2027 National Games, which the state will host. The request was submitted to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports as part of the planning process for the national event. Meghalaya’s officials highlighted the need for funds to develop sports infrastructure, training facilities and logistics required for the Games. The central government will review the proposal and decide on the allocation. The state anticipates that the Games will boost local sports development and generate economic activity in the region.
