Meghalaya Completes 90% of SIR Hearings, 910 Voters Declared Ineligible

The Election Commission of India reports that Meghalaya has finished 90% of its SIR hearings, identifying 910 electors as ineligible.
Meghalaya has now concluded ninety percent of the Second Interim Report (SIR) hearings mandated by the Election Commission of India. The hearings, part of a nationwide effort to clean up electoral rolls, were held across the state over the past weeks.
During the process, officials examined the eligibility of voters and found that 910 electors did not meet the required criteria. These individuals have been removed from the voter list pending further verification.
The Election Commission said the remaining ten percent of hearings will be wrapped up shortly, after which the final revised electoral roll for Meghalaya will be published ahead of the upcoming elections.
State authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with verification teams and to report any discrepancies in their voter details to ensure a transparent electoral process.
