Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma urged education fellows to move beyond using laptops and focus on field‑based work, stressing practical engagement with schools and communities.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma, addressed a gathering of education fellows, warning that merely carrying a laptop does not equate to effective educational intervention. He stressed that fellows must step out of virtual spaces and immerse themselves in the realities of schools and villages.

Sangma outlined clear expectations: regular field visits, direct interaction with teachers and students, and the implementation of context‑specific solutions. He said digital tools are valuable, but they should complement, not replace, on‑ground engagement.

The CM highlighted the state's ambition to raise learning outcomes and urged fellows to align their activities with Meghalaya's broader education strategy, emphasizing accountability and measurable impact.

The remarks were delivered during a workshop organized by the state education department in Shillong, where participants were briefed on upcoming projects and performance metrics.
