The Chief Minister of Meghalaya officially opened a new project that was first conceived by the late P.A. Sangma, marking a continuation of his development vision.

In a ceremony held in Meghalaya, the state’s Chief Minister inaugurated a development initiative that traces its origins to the late P.A. Sangma, a towering figure in the region’s political history. The launch was attended by senior officials and local dignitaries who praised the project as a tribute to Sangma’s long‑standing commitment to the state’s progress.

P.A. Sangma, who served as a Union Minister and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, had earlier outlined the concept of the scheme during his tenure, emphasizing the need for sustainable growth in remote areas. The current administration has taken forward his blueprint, adapting it to contemporary requirements while retaining the core objectives he championed.

The newly launched project aims to address key infrastructure gaps and improve livelihoods in under‑served districts. Officials indicated that implementation will be overseen by a dedicated task force, with periodic reviews to ensure alignment with Sangma’s original vision. The inauguration signals the state government’s intent to honor past leadership while delivering tangible benefits to its citizens.
