Chief Minister Conrad became the first Meghalaya leader to travel to Mawhati, where he launched several local development schemes.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad made history by being the first state leader to set foot in the remote town of Mawhati. During his visit, he inspected ongoing infrastructure works and formally inaugurated a series of development projects aimed at improving connectivity, health facilities and livelihood opportunities for the local community.
The projects include the construction of a new road linking Mawhati to nearby market centres, the upgrade of a primary health centre, and the launch of a skill‑training programme for youth. Officials said the initiatives are part of the state government's broader push to bring essential services to underserved hill areas.
Local residents welcomed the CM's presence, expressing hope that the new infrastructure will boost economic activity and reduce isolation. The administration pledged regular monitoring to ensure timely completion of the schemes.
