Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said restoring public safety and normal life in Shillong is the top priority following recent outbreaks of violence.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma addressed the media on Monday, emphasizing that the immediate focus of his administration is to restore normalcy in Shillong after a spate of violent incidents that disrupted public order. He assured residents that law‑enforcement agencies are being deployed in full force to secure the city and prevent any further escalation.
Sangma highlighted that the state government is coordinating with local police, the district administration and community leaders to identify the causes of the unrest and to implement corrective measures. He also promised swift judicial action against those responsible for the violence.
The CM urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with authorities, stressing that the safety of the public remains the government's paramount concern. He concluded by stating that the administration will keep the public informed of progress as normalcy returns to the capital.
