Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad Sangma officially inaugurated the newly constructed facilities at eighty‑two government schools, marking the rollout of Phase II of the state’s Mission Education initiative. The infrastructure package includes additional classrooms, science laboratories, computer rooms and upgraded sanitation facilities aimed at improving the learning environment for students across the state.
The Mission Education programme, launched by the Meghalaya government to boost educational outcomes, entered its second phase after completing the first round of school upgrades. Phase II focuses on expanding physical infrastructure in remote and underserved districts, thereby reducing disparities in access to quality education.
During the ceremony, the CM highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring that every child in Meghalaya has a safe and conducive space for learning. The newly inaugurated schools are expected to accommodate increased enrolment and support the implementation of modern teaching methods.
State officials said the project will be monitored closely to ensure timely completion of remaining works and to assess the impact on student performance in upcoming academic assessments.
