State officials in Meghalaya convened a meeting with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong to address the escalating Maikhuli issue reported in Sohtun. The discussion focused on the immediate need to restore order and protect residents affected by the unrest.
Following the meeting, the state government ordered the rapid deployment of security forces to the affected area. Police and paramilitary units were dispatched to Sohtun to monitor the situation, enforce law and order, and prevent further escalation.
Local authorities have urged the community to cooperate with the forces and maintain calm while the situation is being assessed. The administration has pledged to continue monitoring the area and take additional measures if required.
