BSP supremo Mayawati announced that her nephew Akash Anand is no longer a party member, following the retirement of his father‑in‑law from active politics.

Mayawati, the chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party, publicly declared that she is removing her nephew Akash Anand from the party's roster. The announcement was made during a brief press interaction in New Delhi, where she emphasized the decision was personal rather than political.

The move follows the recent decision of Akash Anand’s father‑in‑law, a senior party associate, to step away from active politics. Sources close to the family said the elder's withdrawal prompted a reassessment of his relatives' roles within the BSP.

Mayawati stated that the party respects individual choices and that the separation does not affect the BSP’s broader agenda. She added that the organization will continue to focus on its core objectives without any familial considerations influencing its functioning.

A BSP spokesperson confirmed the change in membership and reiterated that the party remains committed to its policy priorities, with no further comment on future positions for Akash Anand.
