The iconic Friends trifle scene starring Matt LeBlanc was reportedly even more outrageous off camera, according to production notes.
The Friends episode featuring Matt LeBlanc’s trifle gag became a fan favorite for its absurdity and humor. The on‑screen scene was carefully staged with a realistic dessert that was meant to look delicious yet ridiculous.
Production insiders have revealed that off camera, the actors and crew went a step further. A larger trifle was intentionally overfilled and set to spill, creating an even more dramatic prank for the crew’s amusement.
The stunt required careful safety measures. The set crew secured the area, used a mock‑up to prevent a real mess, and ensured that no one was injured while the dessert collapsed.
While the broadcast version was trimmed to keep the episode within time limits, behind‑the‑scenes footage shows the actors laughing and the crew managing the spill in real time.
The revelation has sparked renewed interest among fans and has been highlighted in recent retrospectives of the show, underscoring the playful nature of the series’ production team.
