The Manipur Women’s Commission marked its 20th anniversary and announced the rollout of a new online portal for filing gender‑based complaints.
Manipur’s statutory Women’s Commission observed two decades of operation on Thursday, highlighting its role in safeguarding women’s rights across the state since its inception in 2004. The ceremony, attended by the commission’s chairperson and senior officials, featured a brief overview of its achievements in advocacy, counseling and legal assistance.
During the event, the commission unveiled an online complaint portal designed to streamline the filing of grievances related to domestic violence, sexual harassment and other gender‑based offenses. The digital platform will allow victims to register complaints 24/7, upload supporting documents and track case progress without the need to visit the commission’s office in person.
Commission officials said the portal aims to broaden access for women in remote districts, reduce procedural delays and improve data management for faster redressal. They also urged civil‑society groups and local authorities to promote the new system among vulnerable communities.
The launch aligns with the state government’s broader push for e‑governance solutions in public services, and the commission plans to monitor the portal’s usage closely during the initial months to address any technical or outreach challenges.
