Manipur Students Protest NRC Before Census, Demand Two-Day Strike

On Thursday, students from several colleges in Manipur gathered outside the state assembly to protest the proposed schedule of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before the forthcoming national census. They argued that finalising the NRC too early could create administrative complications and compromise census accuracy. The demonstrators demanded that the government postpone the NRC process until after the census is completed. The protest, organized by student unions, also called for a two‑day strike to compel authorities to reconsider the timetable.
