Manipur police nab two drug dealers, seize weapons and explosives in Bishnupur

The Manipur Police announced today that they have arrested two persons suspected of dealing in illicit drugs in Bishnupur, a town in the state's southern region. The operation, carried out by local law‑enforcement teams, resulted in the seizure of a cache of firearms and explosive substances alongside the narcotics evidence.
Police officials reported that the suspects were apprehended during a raid on a residential premises believed to be a hub for drug distribution. In addition to the narcotics, investigators recovered several unlicensed weapons and a quantity of explosive material, which are being forwarded to the state’s bomb disposal unit for safe disposal.
A police spokesperson said the seizure underscores the department’s intensified crackdown on organized crime in Manipur, emphasizing that the presence of weapons and explosives heightens the threat to public safety. The two arrested individuals are currently in custody and will face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as well as relevant arms and explosives legislation.
The case is being investigated further to determine any wider network of drug trafficking and illegal arms possession in the region.
