The Manipur Police announced today that they have arrested two persons suspected of dealing in illicit drugs in Bishnupur, a town in the state's southern region. The operation, carried out by local law‑enforcement teams, resulted in the seizure of a cache of firearms and explosive substances alongside the narcotics evidence.
Police officials reported that the suspects were apprehended during a raid on a residential premises believed to be a hub for drug distribution. In addition to the narcotics, investigators recovered several unlicensed weapons and a quantity of explosive material, which are being forwarded to the state’s bomb disposal unit for safe disposal.
A police spokesperson said the seizure underscores the department’s intensified crackdown on organized crime in Manipur, emphasizing that the presence of weapons and explosives heightens the threat to public safety.
