In Manipur, police arrested six militants and an extortionist in separate operations, targeting criminal and insurgent activities.
Earlier this week, Manipur Police arrested six militants and an extortionist in separate operations across the state. The militants were suspected of involvement in insurgent activities that have plagued the region for years.
The extortionist, known for targeting local businesses, was apprehended by the Anti‑Extortion Squad after a sting operation that traced his demands to several shop owners.
Both arrests were carried out by the Manipur Police’s Special Operations Unit and the Anti‑Extortion Squad in different districts, according to police statements. The operations were coordinated to disrupt criminal networks and reduce violence.
Police officials said the arrests would deter future crimes and strengthen law‑and‑order in the state.
