Government That Remained Silent for Nearly Four Years of Turmoil Is Now Merely Misleading the Public: Former Minister Okendro

Around 241 individuals from 85 families across Ward Nos. 2, 3, and 4 of Polling Stations no. 33/6 and 33/7 in Nongpok Sekmai under Heirok Assembly Constituency who were previously associated with the BJP and other parties have joined the Indian National Congress (INC). They were warmly welcomed by Former Heirok AC Minister Moirangthem Okendro while Heirok Block Congress Committee (HBCC) President Thokchom Ranjan honored them with Lengyanphi scarves.
Organized by the Heirok Block Congress Committee under the theme of collective unity of like-minded individuals, the reception program was held today afternoon at the Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Sanglen in Nongpok Sekmai, Thoubal District, Manipur. The event was attended by former Minister Moirangthem Okendro, HBCC President Thokchom Ranjan, former Thoubal Adhyaksha Kh. Shoba, alongside key members of the Heirok Block Congress Committee and local residents.
Welcoming the members of the 85 families, former Minister Moirangthem Okendro stated that people of Heirok Constituency must stand united for the motherland with a shared vision. He criticized the current double-engine government for remaining completely silent and ineffective throughout nearly four years of crisis, claiming it has now resorted solely to misleading the public with false narratives.
He added that this is not an election period with uncertainties over governance, but a critical time for indigenous communities residing in Heirok Kendra to unite and protect Manipur. He emphasized that such solidarity programs are being organized across different parts of the constituency to collectively confront long-standing challenges together.
He further stated that no one should misunderstand this move, emphasizing that like-minded people have united solely to save the motherland. He explained that due to his political experience, joining and uniting with the Indian National Congress strengthens the party. Okendro urged the public to support and strengthen Congress to foster harmony among all communities and confront every upcoming challenge together.
