Manipur Deputy Chief Minister publicly denounced the recent killing of two Kuki‑Zo youths and appealed to all communities to exercise restraint amid rising tensions.

Manipur Deputy Chief Minister voiced strong condemnation of the fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two young men belonging to the Kuki‑Zo community. In a press briefing, the deputy chief minister described the incident as a grave threat to the fragile peace in the state.
The two victims, identified as members of the Kuki‑Zo ethnic group, were killed in an incident that has heightened communal sensitivities across Manipur. While details of the attack remain under investigation, authorities have confirmed that the youths were shot dead in an isolated area of the state.
Calling for calm, the deputy chief minister urged all political parties, community leaders and citizens to refrain from retaliatory actions. He emphasized that law‑enforcement agencies must act swiftly to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore confidence among the populace.
The statement concluded with a plea for restraint, stressing that any escalation could destabilise the ongoing peace process and jeopardise the safety of innocent residents.
