Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand announced that bridging the trust gap between communities will be the government's top priority in Manipur.
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand told reporters that eliminating the trust deficit between the state’s diverse communities is now the highest agenda for his administration. He emphasized that social cohesion is essential for peace and development in the hill and valley regions.
The CM noted that recent years have seen periodic flare‑ups and lingering suspicion among ethnic groups, which have hampered governance and economic progress. He urged all stakeholders to engage in dialogue and respect each other's cultural identities.
To address the issue, the government plans to launch confidence‑building initiatives, including joint community projects, enhanced grievance redress mechanisms, and regular inter‑community consultations. Officials will also monitor the impact of these measures through a dedicated task force.
Khemchand appealed to civil society, religious leaders and political parties to support the effort, stressing that lasting harmony can only be achieved through collective responsibility and sustained outreach.
