Chief Minister N. Biren Singh appealed to citizens to avoid disruptive shutdowns and blockades, urging them to express dissent through democratic channels.

Manipur's Chief Minister N. Biren Singh addressed the public, warning that frequent shutdowns and road blockades cause economic loss and inconvenience to ordinary citizens. He emphasized that while the right to protest is constitutionally protected, it must be exercised within the framework of law and democratic norms.

The CM urged political parties, civil society groups and ordinary residents to channel their grievances through peaceful rallies, petitions and dialogue with authorities rather than resorting to disruptive tactics. He highlighted recent instances where prolonged shutdowns hampered essential services, education and trade in the state.

Singh assured that the government remains open to hearing legitimate concerns and will take corrective action where needed. He called on law‑enforcement agencies to facilitate peaceful assemblies while preventing any escalation into violence.

The appeal comes amid heightened tensions over regional issues, and the CM's statement aims to balance the right to dissent with the need to maintain public order and economic stability.
