The Chief Minister of Manipur highlighted that local residents' cooperation has been crucial in maintaining uninterrupted transport on National Highway 2.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the steady flow of goods and passengers on National Highway 2 is largely due to the willingness of villagers and townspeople to assist authorities and motorists. He made the remarks during a briefing on the highway's operational status, emphasizing that community support has prevented major disruptions despite occasional landslides and security concerns.

NH‑2, which links Imphal with the rest of the country, is a vital supply corridor for the northeastern region. The road often faces natural obstacles and occasional unrest, which can halt freight movement and affect daily commuters.

Local residents have been reported to clear debris, guide drivers around blocked sections, and provide temporary shelter for stranded travelers. The chief minister praised these collective efforts, noting that such cooperation not only sustains commerce but also strengthens social cohesion in the state.

He urged continued vigilance and collaboration, assuring that the government will maintain necessary infrastructure work while relying on community assistance to keep the highway functional.
