Manipur's chief minister opened the MANITEX 2026 exhibition and introduced a new mobile application along with material‑distribution drives aimed at strengthening the state's weaving community.
The Chief Minister of Manipur inaugurated the MANITEX 2026 exhibition, a platform intended to showcase the state’s handloom and textile heritage. The ceremony highlighted the government's focus on reviving traditional weaving skills and expanding market access for artisans.
During the event, a dedicated mobile application was launched to connect weavers directly with buyers, provide real‑time price information, and offer training modules on design and quality standards. Officials said the app will also feature a digital catalogue of locally produced fabrics.
Alongside the digital rollout, the administration announced distribution drives that will supply raw yarn, dyes, and modern looms to selected weaving clusters. The supplies are part of a broader scheme to reduce production costs and improve product consistency.
State officials expect the combined digital and material support to boost incomes for thousands of weavers, create new export opportunities, and preserve Manipur’s cultural textile legacy.
