The announcement was made in front of local officials and residents, signalling the government's intent to improve connectivity across Manipur. NH‑2 links Imphal to the western districts, while NH‑37 serves as a critical route to the eastern regions.
Transport officials said the move aims to reduce travel costs for commuters and encourage trade along these corridors. The state government plans to monitor the implementation and assess its impact on local economies.
