Man duped of ₹1.5 lakh in Tikamgarh wedding scam; bride absconds with jewellery

A resident of Tikamgarh lodged a complaint after a woman posing as a bride took ₹1.5 lakh for a wedding, performed rituals, and fled with jewellery and a mobile two days later.
A resident of Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh, recently filed a formal complaint at the local police station alleging that he was cheated in a marriage arrangement.
According to the complainant, a woman presented herself as a prospective bride and demanded a payment of ₹1.5 lakh to conduct the wedding. The couple performed the customary rites at a temple, including the exchange of vows.
Two days after the ceremony, the newlywed woman allegedly collected jewellery and a mobile phone from the groom and left the town without informing anyone.
Police have registered the case under sections relating to cheating and theft, and are investigating the identity and whereabouts of the accused. The investigation remains ongoing.
