Man arrested in Bhopal for sexual assault of 12-year-old girl he called 'grandfather'

Police in Bhopal's Kamla Nagar area have arrested a 52‑year‑old man accused of repeatedly raping a 12‑year‑old girl who referred to him as ‘grandfather’.
The Kamla Nagar police station in Bhopal reported that a 52‑year‑old man was taken into custody on suspicion of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 12‑year‑old girl. The child, a fifth‑standard student, had reportedly addressed the accused as “grandfather,” indicating a familiar relationship.
According to the investigation, the alleged offences took place in a public restroom, where the accused is said to have abused the girl on multiple occasions. Police officials said the victim disclosed the incidents after the girl’s family became aware of her distress.
The suspect was arrested under sections of the Indian Penal Code dealing with rape and sexual assault of a minor. He is currently being held at the Bhopal district jail while further forensic and medical examinations are conducted. The case has been forwarded to the district court for trial.
Local authorities have urged parents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior promptly. The police have also announced that a special team will be formed to investigate similar cases of child sexual abuse in the region.
