Male Elephant Swims 30‑Foot Deep Water in Shahdol, Forest Department Responds

A male elephant was observed swimming across a 30‑foot deep water body in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday. The forest department reported that the animal had successfully navigated the deep water and was brought under control by its personnel. The elephant is the same one that was rescued by a team from Bhandargadh Tiger Reserve (BTR) earlier this year and fitted with a tracking collar. Forest officials confirmed that the collar is functioning and the elephant’s movements are being monitored closely. The incident underscores the ongoing efforts to manage wildlife in the region.
