Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met Kerala Chief Minister in a brief engagement before heading to the Maldives for official duties.

Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in the southern Indian state of Kerala where he held a short meeting with the state's chief minister. The encounter, described as a courtesy visit, provided an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss matters of mutual interest, including trade, investment and the welfare of the sizable Malayali diaspora in Malaysia.

The meeting was part of Anwar's broader South Asian itinerary, which aims to strengthen bilateral ties with Indian states that have strong economic and cultural links to Malaysia. Officials said the discussion was cordial and focused on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as tourism, education and fisheries.

After concluding the engagement in Kerala, Anwar boarded a flight to the Maldives, where he is scheduled to meet Maldivian officials on matters ranging from regional security to climate change. The prime minister's swift departure underscores the packed schedule of his foreign outreach program.
