A man has been detained in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, after authorities say he used a sickle to kill his pregnant wife.
A man was arrested in Mahoba district after police recovered a sickle at the scene of a murder involving his pregnant wife. The victim, who was six months pregnant, was found dead in her home with injuries consistent with a blunt force trauma from a sickle.
Mahoba police reported that the suspect was apprehended at his residence shortly after the incident was reported by a neighbor. He was taken into custody and booked under the Indian Penal Code for murder and cruelty to a pregnant woman.
The local police station has stated that an investigation is underway to determine the motive and to collect forensic evidence from the crime scene. The suspect is currently being held in pre‑trial custody pending further inquiry.
