The Maharashtra government announced the Global Workforce Mobility Policy 2026, aimed at easing international movement of skilled workers and attracting foreign talent to the state.
The state cabinet unveiled the Global Workforce Mobility Policy 2026 on Monday, positioning Maharashtra as a hub for cross‑border talent exchange. The policy seeks to simplify visa procedures, offer financial incentives and foster partnerships with overseas companies to enable Maharashtrian professionals to work abroad and bring back expertise.
Key provisions include a dedicated online portal for applications, fast‑track processing for high‑skill categories, and subsidies for firms that hire Indian talent overseas or set up joint ventures in the state. The scheme targets sectors such as information technology, advanced manufacturing, and healthcare, aligning with existing skill‑development initiatives.
Labour Department officials said the policy will be rolled out in phases, with regular monitoring to assess its impact on employment generation and export of services. By encouraging global mobility, the government aims to boost the state's competitiveness and contribute to India's broader economic objectives.
