The state government will soon allow property deeds to be registered online, letting owners complete the process from home.

The Maharashtra government has announced that a digital platform for registering property transactions will be launched in the coming months. The initiative aims to shift the traditionally paper‑heavy registration process to an online system, allowing buyers, sellers and legal representatives to complete the necessary filings from their homes.

Officials said the portal will integrate with existing land records and the state's e‑services network, ensuring that documents are authenticated and stored securely. Users will be able to upload deeds, pay registration fees electronically and receive digital certificates without visiting a sub‑registrar office.

The move is expected to cut down waiting times, reduce travel for citizens in remote areas, and curb opportunities for corruption by limiting manual handling of paperwork. Training sessions for registrars and public awareness campaigns are planned ahead of the rollout.

While the exact launch date has not been disclosed, the government has indicated that the service will be operational before the end of the fiscal year, aligning with broader digital‑government objectives across India.
