The Maharashtra government has suspended four officials of the Food and Drugs Administration after discovering violations involving prohibited tobacco products, and 21 other staff are under departmental inquiry.

In a recent enforcement action, the Maharashtra government suspended four officials of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) following findings of violations related to prohibited tobacco products.
The suspensions come after an internal investigation uncovered the sale and distribution of tobacco items that are banned under state and central regulations.
In addition to the four suspensions, 21 other FDA staff members are now subject to departmental inquiries to determine their involvement in the alleged infractions.
The government has stated that it will pursue further legal action against those found responsible and will tighten monitoring of tobacco product compliance across the state.
