Maharashtra police seized 350 kg of cannabis in two operations on the Samruddhi Expressway near Washim, disrupting a major drug trafficking route.
Police officials announced that a total of 350 kilograms of cannabis were seized during two coordinated operations on the Samruddhi Expressway, close to Washim district. The Anti‑Narcotics Squad, along with traffic police, conducted the raids early in the morning, intercepting the drugs from a convoy of trucks suspected of smuggling.
The first operation targeted a stretch of the expressway where a vehicle was stopped and found to be carrying a large quantity of dried cannabis. The second raid, carried out a few kilometers downstream, uncovered an additional load, bringing the total seized amount to 350 kilograms.
Authorities say the seizure represents one of the largest drug recoveries in the region and is expected to disrupt the supply chain of narcotics that has been active along this corridor. The seized material will be forwarded to the forensic laboratory for further analysis.
The Maharashtra State Police have urged the public to report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking and assured that anti‑narcotics operations will continue to intensify in the state.
