The Maharashtra government has announced a competition to select the best public Ganeshotsav mandals for 2026, inviting mandals across the state to apply and compete for recognition and awards.
The Maharashtra government has introduced a state‑wide competition to identify the best public Ganeshotsav mandals for the year 2026. The call for entries was issued by the Department of Culture on Thursday, inviting mandals from all districts to submit their applications.
Eligibility criteria include a minimum of three years of active participation in public Ganeshotsav celebrations and a documented record of community outreach. Mandals must provide details of their past events, crowd management plans, and environmental measures adopted during the festival.
The competition will assess mandals on creativity, crowd safety, cleanliness, and community impact. Winners will receive a certificate of excellence, a financial grant, and a feature in the state’s official tourism brochure.
Officials say the initiative aims to elevate the quality of public celebrations and encourage best practices across Maharashtra. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2024.
