Maharashtra launches Land Bank to streamline records and boost infrastructure

The Maharashtra government has inaugurated a Land Bank aimed at consolidating land records, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis saying it will accelerate infrastructure projects.
The state government of Maharashtra officially launched a new Land Bank designed to bring all land records under a single, digitised platform. The initiative seeks to eliminate fragmented documentation and streamline the process of land verification for public and private projects.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, speaking at the inauguration, emphasized that a unified land database will remove bottlenecks that often delay infrastructure development. He indicated that faster access to clear title information will enable quicker approvals for roads, railways, housing and industrial schemes.
Officials said the Land Bank will integrate data from existing registries, revenue departments and municipal bodies, and will be accessible to relevant authorities through a secure online portal. The move is expected to reduce land disputes, cut transaction costs and attract greater investment in the state's development agenda.
