The Maharashtra government has inaugurated a Land Bank aimed at consolidating land records, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis saying it will hasten infrastructure development.
Mumbai, September 2 (Mid-Day) – The Maharashtra state government officially launched a Land Bank today, a centralized platform intended to streamline land record management across the state. The initiative seeks to bring all land-related data under a single digital repository, reducing duplication and simplifying verification processes for developers and government agencies.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the press, emphasizing that the Land Bank will remove bottlenecks that often delay large‑scale projects. By providing quick access to clear titles and ownership details, the government aims to cut down approval times for roads, railways, housing and other infrastructure works.
State officials indicated that the Land Bank will be integrated with existing land‑record systems and will operate as a one‑stop service for stakeholders, including private investors, builders and local authorities. The move is part of a broader effort to improve transparency, curb land‑related disputes and attract faster investment in Maharashtra's development agenda.
The launch comes as the state pushes for faster execution of its infrastructure pipeline, with the Land Bank expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring that land acquisition and clearance processes are more efficient and less prone to delays.
