Maharashtra is facing a water shortage even as some reservoirs hold ample water, leaving residents without adequate supply, reports News18 Marathi.
Maharashtra officials have highlighted a paradoxical situation where several reservoirs contain significant water reserves, yet many districts report acute water shortages. The state’s water department says that while overall storage is satisfactory, distribution gaps and infrastructure constraints are preventing water from reaching households.
Residents in affected areas describe daily hardships, with tap water supply curtailed and reliance on alternative sources such as tankers and wells. Community leaders have appealed to authorities for swift remedial action to bridge the supply-demand mismatch.
The report, aired by News18 Marathi, underscores the need for improved water management and equitable distribution, especially as the region continues to battle the lingering effects of a prolonged drought.
