The state administration has ordered that all oral appointments in ministerial offices be discontinued and that staff return to work by September 10.

The Maharashtra government issued a directive prohibiting any oral appointments in the offices of its ministers. The order, announced by the state administration, mandates that all such informal meetings be cancelled immediately.

According to the circular, every ministerial office must now rely on written or electronic requests for appointments, aiming to bring greater transparency and record‑keeping to the appointment process.

The same notice instructs all staff who have been working remotely or on temporary assignments to report back to their respective offices by 10 September. Officials said compliance will be monitored closely to ensure the new procedure is uniformly applied.

The decision forms part of a broader effort by the state to streamline administrative procedures and reduce ambiguities in official communications.
