The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has ordered the suspension of food‑handling units of Reliance, Zomato and Blinkit after detecting expired items in their supply chain.
The state food regulator in Maharashtra announced the suspension of several operational units belonging to Reliance Industries, online food‑delivery platform Zomato and grocery‑delivery service Blinkit. The action follows inspections that uncovered the presence of expired food products in the inventory of the concerned units. Authorities said the violations breach the Food Safety and Standards Act, prompting immediate enforcement to protect consumers. The suspended units will remain non‑operational until they demonstrate compliance with the required safety standards and submit a corrective action plan. The FDA has warned that further non‑compliance could attract harsher penalties, including revocation of licences.
