The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration inspected 12 food outlets and ordered action after finding serious hygiene violations.
The state Food and Drug Administration (FDA) carried out surprise inspections at a number of food establishments across Maharashtra last week. Inspectors reported that twelve outlets failed to meet basic hygiene standards, including inadequate cleaning, improper food storage and lack of protective gear for staff. As a result, the FDA issued notices of violation and ordered the immediate closure of the premises until corrective measures are implemented. In some cases, monetary penalties were also imposed in accordance with state regulations. The crackdown is part of a broader effort by the department to improve public health safety in the state's food service sector.
