The Maharashtra Food and Drugs Authority has confiscated food products worth ₹50 crore and suspended 892 business licences over a six‑month period, marking a vigorous crackdown on food adulteration.
The Maharashtra Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) announced that it has seized food items valued at ₹50 crore and suspended 892 licences during the last six months.
The action was part of a broader enforcement drive aimed at curbing the sale of adulterated food products across the state. The seized goods included a range of packaged foods that failed to meet safety and quality standards.
Officials said the crackdown would deter manufacturers and distributors from compromising consumer safety. The FDA also highlighted that the licences suspended were for businesses found repeatedly violating food safety norms.
The authority plans to continue monitoring the market and will take further action against any entity that fails to comply with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India regulations.
