Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cautioned that the state is facing severe water and fodder shortages following significant crop losses due to the ongoing drought.

The state of Maharashtra is grappling with an intense drought that has led to widespread crop losses across several districts.

In a televised address, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis warned that the water crisis is now compounded by a looming shortage of fodder for livestock, which could further strain the rural economy.

Farmers have reported that the lack of irrigation and dwindling pasturelands are forcing many to abandon their fields, while the livestock sector faces a risk of mass mortality without adequate feed.

The government has announced emergency measures to mobilise water resources and is coordinating with central agencies to provide fodder subsidies and support to affected communities.
