The Maharashtra government approved a rehabilitation policy for Pandharpur and sanctioned a Rs 6,477 crore budget for the second phase of the Jayakwadi irrigation project.
Mumbai – In a dual announcement, the state cabinet of Maharashtra gave the green signal to a rehabilitation scheme aimed at improving living conditions in Pandharpur. The policy, which focuses on upgrading infrastructure and providing basic amenities to residents, is expected to be implemented over the next few years.
At the same time, the cabinet approved a Rs 6,477 crore allocation for Phase‑II of the Jayakwadi project, a major irrigation initiative that will expand water storage capacity and benefit farmers across the Marathwada region. The new phase includes construction of additional canals, lift irrigation schemes and modernization of existing facilities.
