The state government has authorized the creation of 220 District Family Services posts aimed at reducing a backlog of around 40,000 pending cyber and TASI cases.
Maharashtra's cabinet has given the green light to create 220 new posts in the District Family Services (DFSL) cadre. The move is intended to accelerate the disposal of a massive docket of cyber‑related and Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Special Investigation) cases that have been pending for years.
Officials estimate that roughly 40,000 cases are awaiting resolution across the state, a figure that has strained the existing investigative machinery. By bolstering the DFSL workforce, the government hopes to bring more manpower to courts and investigative agencies handling these matters.
State authorities said the additional posts will be filled through the regular recruitment process and that the newly appointed officers will be deployed to districts with the highest case loads. They expect the first batch of recruits to join within the next few months, which should help clear a significant portion of the backlog before the end of the fiscal year.
