Maharashtra allocates Rs 1,400 crore for Chakan roads, Rs 426 crore for Hinjewadi traffic

The state government has sanctioned a Rs 1,400‑crore scheme to upgrade roads and drainage in Chakan, alongside a Rs 426‑crore project aimed at easing traffic in Hinjewadi.
The Maharashtra government announced a two‑part infrastructure package targeting the Pune suburbs of Chakan and Hinjewadi. A budget of Rs 1,400 crore has been earmarked to widen and resurface roads and to improve drainage systems in Chakan, a rapidly industrialising area.
In parallel, a separate allocation of Rs 426 crore will be used to address chronic traffic congestion in the Hinjewadi IT hub. The funding is intended to fund road‑widening, signal upgrades and other measures that can improve vehicular flow during peak hours.
Both initiatives will be financed from the state’s infrastructure budget and are expected to be rolled out over the coming financial years, with the aim of supporting economic activity and reducing commuter delays in the region.
