Around 20.6 million voters whose names were removed from Maharashtra’s electoral roll have been given a chance to apply for reinstatement, the Election Commission announced.
The Election Commission of India has opened a window for voters in Maharashtra whose names were deleted from the draft electoral rolls to seek reinstatement.
The deletion impacted roughly 2.06 crore electors across the state, raising concerns about potential disenfranchisement ahead of upcoming polls.
The commission has outlined a procedure that allows affected individuals to submit an application to the Electoral Registration Officer of their constituency, together with standard proof of identity and residence.
Submitted forms will be verified, and eligible names will be added back to the final roll before the next electoral exercise.
Officials have urged all eligible voters to act promptly to avoid missing the reinstatement deadline.
