On Sunday morning, the Mahānanda Express bound for Delhi from Alipurduar left the rails a short distance beyond Ara railway station in Bihar's Bhojpur district. The incident occurred near the western overbridge, where the train's engine, a SLR (Second Luggage Rake) coach and an air‑conditioned passenger coach were reported to have come off the track.
